KUCHING: AirBorneo Airways Sdn Bhd has urged passengers to purchase flight tickets only through its official sales channels following an increase in cases of unauthorised online ticket reselling and scalping by third-party aggregators.
The airline said passengers who purchase tickets through unofficial platforms may face various issues after booking, including inflated fares, unauthorised administrative charges, delayed or unsuccessful booking confirmations, as well as difficulties in obtaining refunds or rebooking assistance when flights are disrupted.
AirBorneo stressed that tickets purchased directly through its official channels offer passengers greater protection and convenience.
These include access to accurate and up-to-date fares without hidden mark-ups or undisclosed service fees, immediate booking confirmation, the ability to select or reselect seats without additional charges and direct customer support for refunds, rebooking and flight disruption assistance.
The airline also noted that passengers booking through official channels are entitled to compensation and consumer protections under the Malaysian Aviation Consumer Protection Code (MACPC) 2016, while ticket authenticity can only be verified and guaranteed through authorised sales platforms.
AirBorneo emphasised that it does not authorise the resale of its tickets at marked-up prices by unofficial agents or online platforms and cannot be held responsible for problems arising from bookings made outside its official channels.
Passengers are advised to purchase tickets only via the official AirBorneo website, the AirBorneo mobile application available on the Apple App Store, and Google Play, authorised AirBorneo ticketing counters or appointed travel agents.
