SPAOH: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has reiterated that the state government can still work with the federal government of Pakatan Harapan (PH) as long as the policies are beneficial to Sarawakians.
“But if their policies are not in the interest of our people, if we have to accept that priority should be given to the needs of the people first, I will oppose,” he said here yesterday.
The GPS chairman went on to urge the people in the state to not split.
“I hope the people in the state will continue to unite in the belief that the Land of the Hornbill can only be best led by a native of the state,” he said.
Abang Johari stressed that although the federal government has agreed to restore Sabah and Sarawak’s status as two of three equal partners in what constitutes Malaysia, there are things that he will still want from Putrajaya for the state.
“I will support it (making Sarawak and Sabah equal partners) but it will not be enough because there are other things we want for Sarawak,” he said. – Sarawak Voice
