KUCHING: Two escalators connecting Level 1 and the lower-level Banquet Hall at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex have been handed over following their successful installation and use during recent state events.

Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD) said the project, aimed at improving accessibility and convenience for dignitaries and visitors, has been completed.

The official handover ceremony took place today at the DUN Complex and was officiated by DUN Secretary Nur Azhar Bujang, while Sarawak PWD was represented by Christopher Jantai Boniface.

Nur Azhar expressed appreciation to the department and the contractor for their commitment in ensuring the escalator project was completed on schedule and met the required technical standards.

According to Sarawak PWD, the facility has already been used for the first time during the State Banquet in conjunction with the 79th birthday celebration of the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, on Oct 11.

The installation of the two escalators marks another step in enhancing the functionality and comfort of the DUN Complex, particularly in areas used for formal state events.

The successful completion of the project, Sarawak PWD said, reflects the department’s continued commitment to delivering safe, modern, and high-quality public infrastructure in line with the Sarawak government’s aspirations.
