PETALING JAYA, Selangor: Former Parti Keadilan Rakyat‘s (PKR) deputy president, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, and former vice-president, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, today announced their exit from the party and vacating their respective parliamentary seats effective tomorrow (Monday, May 18).
Rafizi, who is the Member of Parliament for Pandan, said he and Nik Nazmi, the Member of Parliament for Setiawangsa, will write a letter regarding the decision to the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul tomorrow.
At the same time, the resignation letter from the party will also be submitted to PKR’s Secretary-General, Datuk Fuziah Salleh, on Tuesday (May 19).
The announcement was made by the two at a press conference in conjunction with the Rafizi and Nik Nazmi Political Direction Announcement Ceremony here today.
Earlier, Rafizi and Nik Nazmi took over Parti Bersama Malaysia from its founder and president, Tan Gim Theam, as a new platform for their political struggle.
Parti Bersama Malaysia was established on December 2, 2016, and is active in Penang. – BERNAMA
