KUCHING: Thunderstorms and heavy rain are forecast in Sarawak until 1 pm today.
Tthe Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the affected areas will be Kuching, Serian, and Samarahan divisions.
Further up, the divisions of Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah and Kapit (Song) will also be affected.
A thunderstorm warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20 mm/hour that is close to or expected to last for more than an hour.
Furthermore, a thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
In the meantime, the public is urged to monitor the weather conditions through the department’s official website at https://www.met.gov.my/en/, the myCuaca mobile application, or the department’s official social media pages.
