KOTA SAMARAHAN: Ramadan should serve as a platform to strengthen empathy and social responsibility within the Muslim community.
According to TVS, Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Rubiah Wang, the fasting month allows Muslims to better understand the struggles faced by the underprivileged, including the asnaf and B40 groups.
“When we endure hunger and thirst, we are in fact feeling the pulse of life experienced by those in need.
“Ramadan is not only about individual worship, but about shaping a caring and responsible society,” she said at the ‘Harapan Ramadan’ programme organised by Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM) in collaboration with CIMB Islamic at Masjid An-Najah, Asajaya on Friday.
Rubiah noted that initiatives such as ‘Harapan Ramadan’ help bridge gaps within the community by providing food aid and social support to vulnerable groups.
She stressed that collaboration between dakwah agencies, the corporate sector and the community is vital to ensure social development progresses alongside economic growth.
“The progress of a society should not be measured solely by physical development, but by how well we prioritise the care and empowerment of the underprivileged,” she added.
A total of 100 asnaf and B40 recipients received boxes of daily necessities during the programme, handed over to representatives of their respective villages.
