KUCHING: The Recycling Pilot Programme, a joint initiative by Timuran Kembangan Sdn. Bhd. and Kuching South City Council (MBKS), is set to expand to more areas next year.

The programme, launched in selected residential areas, focuses on collecting used items like paper, cooking oil, and other recyclables.

“We aim to expand this programme to different areas on a larger scale,” said Timuran Kembangan Managing Director Johnny Ting Su King during the launch of the programme at an apartment today (Dec 14).

“It is crucial to provide a service for collecting used items and cooking oil while also educating the public on the importance of environmental sustainability.”

Participants can exchange collected items for cash based on a predetermined rate.

MBKS councillor Kiing Sie Ying, who also serves as the programme coordinator, praised the initiative.

“In addition to increasing public awareness about cleanliness, the programme also plays an important role in educating the community on how to collaborate in protecting and preserving the environment,” Kiing said.
