SARIKEI: Repok Basketball Club has received a total allocation of RM40,000 after securing an additional RM20,000 to further strengthen sports development in the constituency.

Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said continued investment in sports was vital to nurture talented athletes while fostering discipline, sportsmanship and unity.

He said success was built through consistent training, teamwork and trust among teammates.

“Today’s victory is not the finish line, but the beginning of many more achievements in the future,” the Deputy Plantation and Commodities Minister said in a news report by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).

He said this when speaking at the Warriors’ Dinner held in conjunction with the 2026 Sarikei Division Basketball Championship here on Saturday.

The additional allocation brought the total contribution channelled to the club to RM40,000, including RM20,000 announced previously.

The Sarikei MP also encouraged teams that did not emerge victorious not to lose heart, saying every defeat offered valuable lessons that would help them become stronger and better prepared for future competitions.

He added that the championship was more than a contest for titles, serving as a platform to strengthen friendships, foster team spirit and promote mutual respect among players.
