KANOWIT: A high-powered motorcycle rider died on the spot after colliding head-on with a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) along Jalan Majau last night (May 18).
The accident happened around 8.30pm when both vehicles were travelling in opposite directions.
It was reported that the victim was heading towards Sibu before the fatal crash occurred.
Firefighters from Kanowit station were dispatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call.
Upon arrival, they found the victim lying by the road and placed him on a stretcher before handing him over to paramedics.
The victim, identified as 22-year-old Ellysus Wong, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to Kanowit Hospital for post-mortem procedures.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old MPV driver escaped unharmed in the accident.
The team conducted flushing works to clear the accident debris from the road before ending the operation at 9.40pm.
