KUCHING: Sarawak’s rising young performer, Taylor Louise Fong, has once again made Malaysia proud after clinching first prize and the Exceptional Young Talent Special Prize at the 2025 International Music Competition Paris ‘Grand Prize Virtuoso’.
The 11-year-old’s victory has earned her an invitation to perform at one of Europe’s most esteemed opera venues – the Studio of The Opéra Bastille, Paris on Dec 12.
Taylor’s mother, Jacqueline Chang, shared that Taylor’s dedication and faith have guided her through every milestone.
“It’s a big blessing to be recognised again on such an international stage.
“We’re very thankful to God, her teacher, and everyone who continues to believe in her,” she told the press on Sunday.
For the record, Taylor represented Malaysia at the ASAF Winner Showcase at the Royal College of Music, London on Aug 2025, where she became the first young East Malaysian to perform at the Britten Theatre in both Pop and Musical Theatre categories.
She later joined the Tanoti ‘Dreamweaver’ musical theatre production, becoming the youngest cast member in Sarawak’s first English original musical staged at Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre (PJPAC), Selangor.
Guided by Golden Kenyalang Award-winning choral conductor Sabrina Tnay, Taylor has evolved from her classical training into a performer of international calibre.
Her expressive voice and heartfelt storytelling have earned her multiple global recognitions, including gold at the World Championship of Performing Arts (Los Angeles), Champion at the Asia Students Arts Festival (Singapore and Hong Kong), and Top 5 ranking at the Sanremo Junior World Finals (Italy).
Taylor’s growing list of achievements continues to position her as one of Sarawak’s most promising young musical talents, representing Malaysia’s next generation of performing artistes on the world stage.
