SELANGAU: A total of RM156,800 in education assistance and Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants was distributed to 94 recipients during a ceremony at the Selangau District Office recently.
Selangau Member of Parliament, Edwin Banta, said the allocations reflected ongoing efforts to strengthen education and community development in rural areas.
Of the total, RM72,300 was channelled to 79 students for education purposes, while RM84,500 was allocated to 15 Village Development and Security Committees (JKKKs) for small-scale rural projects.
“Education is the key to transforming the future of the younger generation.
“This assistance will help ease the burden of parents, provide better opportunities for children, and enhance the role of JKKKs in community development,” he said.
As of 2025, a total of 209 students has received RM198,200 in education aid through the Selangau parliamentary office’s initiative.
