MERADONG: A RM20.035 million road upgrading project linking Kampung Rancak Bintangor to Bintangor Town is expected to improve traffic flow, safety and connectivity for residents in the area.
Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing said the Sarawak government-approved project, implemented through the Rajang Delta Development Agency (RDDA), is currently in progress and is scheduled for completion within 24 months.
He said the upgrading works will provide a safer and more comfortable travel experience for motorists while helping to reduce congestion along the route, especially during peak traffic periods.
“The implementation of this project reflects the Sarawak government’s continued commitment to strengthening infrastructure and transportation networks for the wellbeing of the people,” he said when speaking at the Meradong constituency Gawai programme held at several longhouses around Tanah Putih, Sungai Petai, Skim B Meradong, Jalan KJD, Ulu Stras and Sungai Buloh on Tuesday (Jun 2).
Ding said the project forms part of the Sarawak government’s broader efforts under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to ensure development reaches rural communities and smaller towns.
He urged residents to continue working closely with the government to facilitate the smooth implementation of development projects for the benefit of local communities.
The event was further enlivened by Ding’s participation in various community activities, including singing, taking part in a poco-poco exercise session and performing the ngajat dance in support of Dayak cultural heritage.
