LUNDU: Two Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects will be implemented at SMK Lundu and SMK Sematan to provide a more comfortable and conducive learning environment for students.

The projects under the Opar constituency involve the upgrading of the dining hall at SMK Lundu at a cost of RM150,000 and the upgrading of the sports court at SMK Sematan valued at RM100,000.

Both projects will be implemented by the Public Works Department (PWD).

Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang said the projects form part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen education infrastructure.

“Education infrastructure development should not be viewed merely as physical projects. It is a long-term investment in nurturing quality future generations who will contribute to the state’s development,” he said at the RTP project site handover ceremony at SMK Lundu and SMK Sematan here Tuesday.

Billy said upgrading works at SMK Lundu would continue in phases based on the school’s needs and the availability of funding, including further improvements to the dining hall and other facilities requiring attention.

He expressed hope that both projects would be completed according to the approved specifications and timeline so that students, teachers and the entire school community could benefit from the improved facilities.

Billy added that he would continue working closely with the District Education Office and school authorities to identify infrastructure needs at schools throughout the constituency.
