KUCHING: SJKC Sam Hap Hin at Mile 7 will receive an RM70,000 upgrade to its retaining wall and perimeter fencing to address long-standing concerns over soil stability and student safety.

The works are part of the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2025.

During a working visit on Thursday (Feb 5), Kota Sentosa state assemblyman, Wilfred Yap Yau Sin, officiated the handover of the Letter of Appointment (LA) and project site to the appointed contractor, Syarikat Putra Mas Enterprise, witnessed by officers from the Public Works Department (PWD), community leaders, and school representatives.

“Effective representation begins with listening on site and following through with action.

“Infrastructure issues affecting school safety cannot be delayed, which is why close monitoring and coordination with JKR and the contractor are essential,” Yap said.

The upgrading works are scheduled for completion on or before May 25 this year.

During the site inspection, Yap engaged with school representatives and JKR officers to ensure the scope of work accurately reflects the school’s needs.

In addition, Yap presented a RM10,000 Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant to the school board to support educational programmes and student development initiatives, reflecting a holistic approach to community service.

“Development is not just about structures, but also about investing in our children’s education.

“By listening to the school’s needs and acting accordingly, we ensure that no issue is overlooked,” he added.

Yap also reiterated his commitment to closely monitor the project’s progress to ensure timely completion and effective outcomes for the school community.
