KUCHING: Five motorcycles were seized during a special Road Transport Department (RTD) enforcement operation targeting illegal HID/LED lights and motorcycle offences last night (Jul 17).
Sarawak RTD said a total of 874 vehicles were inspected during the operation at Batu 7, Jalan Penrissen heading towards Serian.
It said enforcement officers detected various offences, including the use of HID/LED lights that did not comply with approved specifications, driving without a valid licence, expired driving licences and other technical vehicle offences.
“The five motorcycles were seized for having expired road tax and insurance coverage.
“All offences detected were dealt with in accordance with the relevant provisions under existing road transport laws,” it added.
The department said it would continue intensifying enforcement operations across the state, particularly against offences that could compromise road safety.
“Using modified HID/LED lights that do not comply with approved specifications, driving without a valid licence, and failing to renew road tax and insurance are serious offences that will not be compromised,” it said.
