KUCHING: Students and teachers of SK Mejar Jeneral Dato Ibrahim, Kem Semenggo will now have a better school hall, thanks to a RM300,000 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2025 upgrading project.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap on Monday conducted the final inspection before the official handover of the completed project.
“This project involved upgrading and repairing the school’s dilapidated hall, including restoring and improving the condition of the facility to provide a safer, more comfortable and conducive environment for school assemblies, co-curricular activities, sports programmes and various school functions,” he said in a press statement.
Yap said a school hall plays an important role beyond serving as a physical structure because it supports learning, character-building, community interaction and numerous educational activities throughout the year.
“A school hall is more than just a building. It is a vital space where students gather, learn important values, participate in activities and build lifelong memories.
“By upgrading and repairing this ageing hall, we are investing in the well-being and development of our children while providing teachers and the school community with a better facility to carry out educational and co-curricular programmes,” said Yap.
He added that the project’s completion reflected the Sarawak government’s continued commitment towards improving public infrastructure while ensuring schools have safe, functional and conducive facilities for students and educators.
During the visit, he also presented a Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant amounting to RM10,000 to support the school’s educational, co-curricular and student development programmes.
