KUCHING: SACOFA Sdn Bhd (SACOFA) and ZTE (ZTE Malaysia) Corporation Sdn Bhd (ZTE Malaysia) have established a strategic collaboration to advance Sarawak’s digital transformation.

According to a press statement, both companies will work together to explore, develop and implement initiatives that strengthen Sarawak’s digital infrastructure and technological capabilities.

The partnership focuses on three key areas: advancing artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud technologies, building sustainable, resilient network infrastructure, and accelerating digital transformation across industries through Industry 4.0 adoption.

SACOFA and ZTE Malaysia will promote the adoption of intelligent, autonomous network solutions powered by AI and cloud computing.

These technologies are expected to enhance the agility, scalability, and efficiency of Sarawak’s ICT ecosystem, laying a strong foundation for next-generation innovations that extend beyond the core promise of 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), and AI-driven applications.

The exchange of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the collaborating parties took place during the International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak (IDECS) 2025, witnessed by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Managing Director of SACOFA, Datuk Seri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Abdul Taib, said the collaboration with ZTE Malaysia is a significant step in Sarawak’s digital transformation.

“SACOFA’s network modernisation will provide high-speed connectivity for the people of Sarawak and support a digital-ready future. SACOFA’s state-wide network will enable autonomous industrial initiatives and drive long-term digital growth across the state,” said Sulaiman.

Meanwhile, ZTE Malaysia Managing Director, Steven Ge, said the company is proud to partner with SACOFA in delivering intelligent and energy-efficient network solutions that support Sarawak’s vision for sustainable digital development.

With the implementation of next-generation network technologies, Sarawak will benefit from ultra-high-speed bandwidth and ultra-low latency connectivity to meet the growing demands of the digital era.

ZTE’s AI-powered automation and predictive analytics capabilities will enable real-time monitoring, self-optimising networks, and proactive fault management, ensuring seamless and reliable digital experiences.

The cooperative effort also supports Sarawak’s sustainability and carbon-reduction goals.

Both parties will collaborate to deploy secure, energy-efficient, and high-performance network solutions that contribute to a greener and more resilient digital backbone.

By leveraging ZTE’s global expertise in green technology, the initiative aims to create an advanced, future-ready digital infrastructure that supports long-term environmental stewardship and economic growth.

In addition, the collaboration will drive digital transformation across key sectors, including government, healthcare, education, energy, and smart cities.

By integrating intelligent automation, data analytics, and advanced connectivity, SACOFA and ZTE Malaysia aim to enhance operational efficiency, promote innovation, and strengthen Sarawak’s competitiveness in the digital economy
