SIBU: The Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) continued its Jelajah Program Peduli Veteran MADANI (PVM) 2026 series with an outreach programme in Daro district today.

Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari said the initiative, implemented through the Department of Veterans Affairs (JHEV ATM), serves as a platform for the ministry to better understand the needs of Armed Forces (ATM) veterans and their families.

“The programme allows MINDEF to assess access to healthcare services, economic opportunities and social support, while improving policies to be more structured and inclusive,” he added.

During the visit, Adly met and engaged with 11 veterans in the Daro and Matu areas, including those from asnaf groups, individuals with chronic illnesses, widows and families with persons with disabilities (OKU).

The programme also included the distribution of welfare assistance such as basic necessities, medical equipment and home repair support.

In addition, 100 Bakul Rahmah were distributed to local veteran associations, while selected recipients were honoured with the Pingat Jasa Malaysia (PJM).

Adly noted that ATM veterans remain a valuable asset to the nation.

“MINDEF will continue to expand programmes like this nationwide to ensure no veteran is left behind, especially in rural areas,” he said.

He added that such efforts reflect the ministry’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of veterans and their families.

Also present were JHEV ATM officials, Welfare Department officers and representatives from local veteran associations.
