KUCHING: Sarawak Information Systems Sdn Bhd (SAINS) is expected to remain at the forefront of technology and play a key role in advising the state on emerging technologies.
Chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam stressed the the critical role of technology and innovation in driving Sarawak’s progress and enabling organisations to work smarter, more securely, and more efficiently.
He said that SAINS must be among those that tell Sarawak what the newest technologies are and what needs to be done to stay connected with the rest of the world.
“Technology continues to reshape how businesses operate, how customers engage, and how value is created.
“It is important that Sarawak keep up with the rest of the world as far as technology is concerned and I know our Premier is very sensitive to this, he wants us to be in the forefront as far as technology is concerned.
“Hence, we are here today to share that vision with you. It is in the forefront of whatever we do today. Today, technology is the name of the game,” he said in his welcoming address during the event held at a hotel here on Monday (Feb 9).
Against this backdrop, SAINS Spotlight 2026 marks the debut aimed at providing insight into what SAINS has been doing and what is coming in the future.
The event, themed “Intelligence-Driven Applications: Designing the Future Today,” served as a platform to showcase SAINS’ latest technologies and digital solutions, highlighting how intelligence-driven applications are transforming operations, enhancing decision-making, and delivering meaningful outcomes for government and industry stakeholders.
“So, it is an important meeting and I hope you will continue every year for us to update the rest of Sarawak on what is going on.
“SAINS should be in the forefront as far as technology is concerned and continue to be in the forefront in the future.”
The event welcomed over 400 attendees from Sarawak government ministries and agencies, as well as representatives from the private sector and universities.
