KANOWIT: Search and rescue (SAR) operations are underway to locate a 22-year-old man reported missing in a forest near Sungai Penyulau here.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the victim, identified as Richard Lee Apang, was last seen leaving his longhouse at Rumah Ricky Umbar at about 4pm on Saturday (Mar 7).
A distress call on the incident was received at 11.04am on Sunday (Mar 8), prompting a team from the Kanowit station to be deployed to the location, about 14km away.
Residents of the longhouse had earlier conducted a search in the forest behind the settlement but failed to locate the victim.
According to Bomba, the victim left the house without bringing any identification documents or a mobile phone.
He was last seen wearing a green jersey and black short jeans.
SAR operations continued into the second day today, involving firefighters and police searching the surrounding forest area.
