KUCHING: Sarawak’s five senior scouts completed the King’s Scout Standardisation Assessment Camp at the Sarawak Scout headquarters recently.
Bandon Chan Pei Yong, Marco Yeo Kuok Hao, Julia Lee Shu Tian, Jessie Chan Jia Chee, and Goh Li Xuan underwent assessments in leadership, scouting skills, physical endurance, and community service.
According to a press statement, the evaluation formed part of the national process for the King’s Scout Award, the highest honour in Malaysian scouting for those aged 16 to 18.
The award, recognised under the patronage of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, is on par with the Queen’s Scout Award in the United Kingdom (UK) and the Eagle Scout Award in the United States (US).
Chief Scout Commissioner for Sarawak John Lim Boon Beng said the candidates had shown resilience and commitment, setting an example for others in the scouting movement.
He noted that the award represented not only achievement but also responsibility, as those who received it embodied values of service and leadership.
The five candidates are now closer to joining the roll of King’s Scouts, a distinction attained by only a select number of scouts in Sarawak and across Malaysia.
