PUTRAJAYA: The Sarawak Forestry Department has achieved a significant milestone after receiving the prestigious Five-Star (Excellent) Special Protection Security Award 2025 from the Chief Government Security Office (CGSO), Prime Minister’s Department.

The award recognises outstanding excellence in the management of protection security across government agencies, covering physical security, classified document management, information and communication technology (ICT) security, and compliance with government security policies.

“The Sarawak Forestry Department is the only Sarawak State Government agency to receive this recognition, demonstrating our strong commitment to implementing excellent protection security governance that meets federal standards,” the department said in a press statement on Monday (June 8).

The award was presented during a ceremony officiated by Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar at Dewan Damar Sari, Federal Government Administrative Centre in Putrajaya.

Receiving the highest-level recognition highlights the department’s consistent efforts to strengthen organisational security management systems while safeguarding government assets and maintaining the confidentiality of official information.

The achievement also reflects the department’s readiness to address evolving security requirements and emerging challenges brought about by rapid technological advancements and the digital era.

According to the department, maintaining strong protection security practices remains a key priority to ensure efficient public service delivery and uphold public trust in government institutions.

The recognition further reinforces the department’s commitment to adopting best practices in governance, risk management and organisational resilience in line with national expectations.

The Sarawak Forestry Department credited the accomplishment to the collective dedication and cooperation of its workforce, whose efforts have helped cultivate a strong culture of security awareness throughout the organisation.

It added that the award would serve as a catalyst for continued improvement in public service excellence and the professional, accountable and sustainable management of Sarawak’s forest resources.

The department expressed appreciation to all personnel involved in maintaining high security standards and pledged to continue strengthening its systems to meet future challenges while supporting the state’s development agenda.
