KUCHING: Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) was recently recognised at the Clinical Research Malaysia (CRM) Sponsored Research Awards 2026 after receiving two major accolades.

One of the awards saw SGH’s Dr Voon Pei Jye receiving the Investigator of the Year Award for achieving the highest number of newly awarded sponsored research studies in 2025.

According to a Facebook post shared by the Institute for Clinical Research Malaysia, the recognition reflected Dr Voon’s dedication, leadership and commitment towards advancing clinical research excellence.

The achievement also highlighted the growing research capabilities and collaborative culture within Sarawak’s healthcare community.

Meanwhile, SGH was also recognised with the Top Study Site (MOH) Award after being named among the top performing Ministry of Health (MOH) study sites in Malaysia for 2025 based on the number of sponsored studies awarded.

The recognition reflected the hard work, professionalism and dedication of SGH’s multidisciplinary research teams, investigators, coordinators and supporting staff involved in implementing clinical research initiatives.

The awards were presented by Health Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, during the CRM Sponsored Research Awards 2026 ceremony.

The institute said the achievements reflected the continued growth and resilience of Malaysia’s clinical research ecosystem, as well as the important role public healthcare institutions play in advancing medical innovation, improving patient outcomes, and fostering international research collaborations.

It also extended congratulations to all award recipients and teams involved for their contributions towards strengthening the future of healthcare research in Malaysia.
