KUCHING: The Sarawak-Level Gawai Dayak Celebration 2026 will be held on June 20 and 21.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the celebration will begin with the Gawai Niti Daun event on June 20, followed by the Sarawak-Level Gawai Dayak Dinner at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on June 21.
“The Gawai Dayak Dinner is expected to be graced by Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar as the guest of honour and attended by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“The preparations have been well planned, and we are confident that this year’s Gawai will be another meaningful event as part of the Dayak community’s contribution towards the development of a harmonious and peaceful Sarawak,” he said.
He said this in a media conference after chairing the Main Committee Meeting for the Sarawak-Level Gawai Dayak Celebration 2026 at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex here today (June 15).
Uggah added that a total of 99 contingents, including participants from Sabah, will take part in the Gawai Niti Daun event.
“The procession will start from Tun Jugah Building and proceed to the Kuching Waterfront, where the final programme will take place,” he added.
He also said that this year’s celebration will feature several special events as surprises for visitors throughout the two-day programme.
