KUCHING: Sarawak is set to announce a major milestone in its green energy journey at the Asia Pacific Green Hydrogen Conference and Exhibition 2026 (APGH 2026) which will be held here from 9 to 11 June.
APGH 2026 will bring together governments, industry leaders, investors and technology providers from across the Asia Pacific region.
The centrepiece of this year’s event will be the formal launch of the Sarawak Transitioning Industrial Cluster (TIC) – Malaysia’s first industrial transformation cluster under the World Economic Forum (WEF) framework.
Led by MYCentre4IR in partnership with the WEF and the Ministry of Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak (MEESTy), the initiative aims to accelerate industrial transformation through coordinated ecosystem collaboration.
It also supports a range of national and state development blueprints, including the 13th Malaysia Plan, the National Energy Transition Roadmap, the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, and Sarawak’s own Energy Transition Policy.
The three-day programme will feature a high-profile fireside chat with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, moderated by former International Energy Agency’s executive director Nobuo Tanaka.
Plenary and panel sessions will cover the current energy landscape, sustainable industry transitions, and investment opportunities.
Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Dr Hazland Hipni said Sarawak’s combination of renewable hydropower and the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) positions the state for large-scale green hydrogen production.
He described the conference as the platform where policy dialogue would translate into bankable projects.
“Green hydrogen is no longer a concept – it is a bridge to a net-zero future. Sarawak is not waiting for the future; we are building it,” he said.
An exhibition open to the public will showcase electrolyser technology, hydrogen storage systems, transport solutions, and downstream applications across power generation, heavy transport, and industry.
APGH 2026 is the region’s leading platform for moving green hydrogen from pilot concept to commercial deployment.
