KUCHING: The ‘Underground Utility Detection Operation Course’ offered by Sarawak Skills is a specialised training program aimed at helping professionals to learn how to accurately locate and map underground utilities.

The course will take place over five days, from June 12 to 16, at its centre in Tabuan Jaya here.

According to a press release, the choice of Kuching as the location for the course is due to the growing need for experts in underground utility detection which is driven by the increasing number of infrastructure projects in the state. Sarawak Skills recognises the importance of having well-trained individuals who can accurately locate and map underground utilities to ensure public safety and prevent damage during construction.

The course has been carefully designed by industry experts and is targeted towards professionals involved in infrastructure development, such as site supervisors, project managers, engineers, architects, and land surveyors. It covers industry best practices and provides training on advanced tools including electromagnetic locators, cable/pipe locators, Ground Penetration Radar (GPR), and Gyro Orientation Measurement Unit (OMU) As-built Mapper.
