KUALA LUMPUR: Preparations for the launch of the Sarawak Transitioning Industrial Cluster (TIC), first WEF-based industrial transition initiative, were finalised yesterday (May 25) in a meeting between Sarawak officials and Ministry of Digital.

The meeting involved Deputy State Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Datuk Seri Abdullah Zaidel and Minister of Digital Gobind Singh Deo, who discussed the programme and strategic direction of the upcoming launch event.

The TIC Sarawak launch is scheduled to take place on June 11, 2026 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) and will be jointly organised with the WEF, represented by its managing director Neo Gim Huay.

Abdullah confirmed that the launching ceremony is expected to be officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg together with Gobind.

The event is also expected to feature high-level panel discussions involving senior government leaders, industry representatives, investors and strategic ecosystem partners from across the region.

Also attending the preparatory meeting were the ministry’s secretary-general Datuk Fabian Bigar and MyDIGITAL Corporation chief executive officer Adrian Marcellus.

The Sarawak TIC represents a major milestone as the first initiative of its kind in Malaysia under the WEF’s global Transitioning Industrial Clusters framework, further positioning Sarawak as a regional hub for industrial transformation, decarbonisation and clean energy adoption in line with both state and national priorities.
