SINGAPORE: Sarawak is strengthening international cooperation in utilities, green technology and sustainability through an official working visit to Singapore.

The visit focuses on sustainable infrastructure development, water management and the exploration of modern utility technologies that can support Sarawak’s long-term sustainable development agenda.

Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi said the visit serves as an important platform to enhance bilateral ties and explore strategic collaboration opportunities aimed at improving utility management efficiency and infrastructure resilience in Sarawak.

As part of the programme, Julaihi paid a courtesy call on Singapore’s Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, Grace Fu.

The meeting provided an avenue for both sides to exchange views on strategies to strengthen utility resilience, particularly in the water and energy sectors, as well as approaches towards achieving long-term environmental sustainability goals.

Earlier, Julaihi and his delegation conducted a technical visit to the Sustainable Tropical Data Centre Testbed (STDCT), a joint research facility led by National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University.

The STDCT focuses on developing energy-efficient liquid and hybrid cooling systems designed to reduce energy and water consumption in data centres operating in hot and humid tropical environments.

The technologies being developed at the facility are seen as having significant potential to support Sarawak’s efforts to expand the adoption of green technologies while enhancing the efficiency of the state’s utility management and digital infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Julaihi is scheduled to deliver a keynote address at the Singapore International Water Week 2026 at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre today.

Following the keynote session, he will officiate at the opening of the Sarawak Pavilion, which will showcase the state’s achievements and progress in utility management to international delegates and visitors throughout the event, which runs from June 16 to 18.
