KUCHING: Sarawak Tribune (ST) and the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration and knowledge sharing, with both organisations exploring opportunities to enhance public communication and media development in the state.
The commitment was highlighted during a courtesy call by an ST delegation, led by editor-in-chief Aden Nagrace, on UKAS director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan at Baitulmakmur here today (Aug 5).
Speaking during the visit, Aden said it marked ST’s first official engagement with UKAS, providing an opportunity to introduce the newspaper’s history and growth over the years, as well as its sister publication, Suara Sarawak.
He said ST remains committed to working closely with UKAS, particularly in supporting efforts to promote and communicate the Sarawak Government’s initiatives to the public.
Aden also expressed appreciation to UKAS for its comprehensive news coverage, both within and outside Sarawak, describing the agency’s reports as a valuable resource that supports the newsroom in producing timely and informative news content.
Meanwhile, Awang Putrayusrie said the visit further strengthened ties between UKAS and ST, which aims to foster closer cooperation with media organisations.
He also outlined UKAS’ role as the state’s official communications agency, responsible for disseminating government information and news through various digital and media platforms.
He said UKAS continues to expand its outreach to ensure government information reaches communities across Sarawak, particularly those in rural areas, in addition to urban audiences.
Awang Putrayusrie added that UKAS looks forward to future collaboration with ST, particularly in the area of training and professional development, to further strengthen the state’s media and communications landscape.
