KAPIT: Sarawakians are smart enough to know what is real or otherwise regarding information disseminated on social media.

In stating this, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg noted that there were certain quarters trying to spread lies and inaccurate information in order to discredit the state government.

“For example, certain people said Kapit was lacking in infrastructure development.

“On the contrary, Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Jemut Masing and his team had done a lot for the local community, such as the construction of road to Ng Mujong, as well as the road to Tunoh and up to the Baleh hydroelectric dam site.

“As such, the people are wise enough to differentiate between factual and false information.

“For those parties making false claims, they don’t even come here, what do they know?” he said during his visit to the Ng Mujong bridge here, Monday (Oct 5).

On the Baleh dam, he explained that it would not only provide hydroelectric energy, but also solar farming and hydrogen.

“This is the type of renewable energy that the state is focusing on.”

Abang Johari also said as a caring government, the Sarawak government was upgrading the native court to enhance its efficiency in dealing with matters affecting the Bumiputera community.

The native laws would be strengthened to better serve the community and syllabus on the native court would be introduced in local universities to enable the younger generation to learn about them, he added.
