KAPIT: More than 10,000 visitors are expected to attend the ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ (SKS) Programme 2026, which began today (June 26) at Dewan Suarah Kapit.

State Secretary, Datuk Amar Abu Bakar Marzuki, who officiated at the soft launch of the programme, said the three-day event is expected to attract strong public participation through its wide range of activities.

He said visitors can look forward to lucky draws, Konsert Rakyat, the Kapit Kitchen and Sales Tent, as well as exhibitions by government agencies and local entrepreneurs.

Abu Bakar said what makes the Kapit edition unique is the strong participation of young entrepreneurs.

“What is unique about Kapit compared with other divisions is the presence of many young entrepreneurs who have come forward with innovative business ideas. I congratulate Kapit for successfully showcasing young entrepreneurs from various business sectors,” he added.

The Kapit Kitchen and Sales Tent features 50 vendors, comprising 36 food stalls and 14 vendors selling dry products.

Meanwhile, the ‘Sarawak Pavilion and Services’ exhibition brings together 41 government agencies and organisations, allowing visitors to access a wide range of government services and information in one place.

Among the participating exhibitors are the Sarawak Free Tertiary Education Scheme, Yayasan Sarawak, CENTEXS and Sarawak Skills, Kolej Laila Taib, the Immigration and Labour Unit, and the Territorial Army (Askar Wataniah), which has its own exhibition booth.

Visitors can also obtain information on higher education opportunities, scholarships, technical and vocational education and training programmes, employment initiatives, immigration and labour services, as well as Territorial Army recruitment and its role in national defence.

The ‘Sarawakku Sayang’ Programme in Kapit runs until June 28 and aims to bring government services closer to the people while promoting local entrepreneurship and products.
