KUCHING: The steady growth of women’s rugby in Sarawak was highlighted by the selection of Cuthberta Entai, Siti Markhamah Mohd Fadzil, and Dayang Manggie to the Malaysia 15s Women’s XV squad.
The trio, part of a 28-women rugby squad, will feature in the national line-up for the upcoming SEA Women’s XV Championship 2026.
The regional tournament, sanctioned by Asia Rugby and World Rugby, will be held at Padang Astaka, Petaling Jaya, Selangor, from February 8 to 14.
Malaysia opens their campaign against Singapore on Sunday (Feb 8), followed by Singapore facing the Philippines on February 11.
The hosts will then face the Philippines in the championship final on February 14, with all matches kicking off at 4.00 pm.
The inclusion of Cuthberta, Siti Markhamah and Dayang among the national forwards highlights Sarawak’s ongoing contribution to the women’s national programme, reflecting significant progress made at the state and grassroots levels.
Their selection is also expected to inspire young female players in Sarawak as the national setup continues to strengthen the women’s game ahead of future regional and international commitments.
