KUCHING: 200 participants from the Satok constituency have completed a two-week Artificial Intelligence (AI) course aimed at boosting digital literacy among local community leaders and grassroots representatives.
In a statement yesterday (June 27), the programme, themed “AI Satok Smart Community, Strong Destiny”, held from June 13 had brought together branch committee members of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) N.8 Satok, community leaders, mosque, surau management, and local representatives.
It was organised by the Satok Education Bureau with the PBB N.8 Satok Branch Service Centre, and supported by Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki.
Satok Education Bureau chairman Abdul Samat Gany, who is also Political Secretary to the Premier, said the course gave participants hands-on exposure to various AI modules they could apply directly to their daily tasks.
“At the end of the course, we were deeply moved to see participants fully benefit from the knowledge gained, as they were able to produce their own products and materials using the various AI applications they had learned,” he said in the statement.
He cited the initiative was part of the bureau’s efforts to accelerate digital transformation within the N.8 Satok community, in line with the state government’s digital development and sustainability aspirations.
The course was conducted in collaboration with Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak, with hands-on training led by senior lecturers from the university’s Faculty of Engineering.
Participants were also briefed on the ethical, responsible and inclusive use of AI, which organisers said has the potential to improve efficiency and quality of life across the economy, social affairs, religious matters and organisational management.
In its statement, the bereau said it hopes such programmes will produce a more tech-savvy and competitive community ready to face a future increasingly shaped by technology.
