KUCHING: The Sarawak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has contributed RM30,000 to support flood relief efforts in Bintulu.
SCCI President Datuk Seri Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg handed over the contribution to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) during a cheque presentation ceremony held at the SCCI office here yesterday (March 5).
Receiving the cheque on behalf of SDMC was the Deputy Resident of Bintulu Division, Abang Zainuddin Abang Turkey.
According to a press release issued by SCCI yesterday (March 5), this donation reaffirms SCCI’s commitment to aiding communities affected by the recent disaster.
“The donation was made as part of SCCI’s ongoing efforts to support disaster relief initiatives and provide aid to those in need.
“The financial assistance will be channelled towards relief efforts to help affected residents recover from the disaster,” it stated.
For the record, the flood situation in Bintulu has significantly impacted many communities, prompting various government agencies, non-governmental organisations, and private sector organisations to step in with relief assistance.
“SCCI continues to encourage collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors to strengthen disaster response and recovery initiatives across Sarawak,” it added.
