KUCHING: Works to repair and upgrade the SK Satria Jaya school hall is scheduled for completion by the first half of this year said Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin.

Yap, in a statement said the project costs RM100,000 and its implementation will be supervised by the Kuching South City Council (MBKS).

“The representatives of SK Satria Jaya had requested me for assistance as the condition of their school hall was unsatisfactory to serve the needs of the students.

“Numerous studies have shown that the facilities of a school can affect the health, behaviour, engagement, learning, and growth of the students,” he said.

Yap said besides affecting the physical and emotional health of students and teachers, poor facilities could also affect academic performance of the students.

“So, every school should be equipped with proper facilities for the students and teachers so that a conducive environment can be created,” he said.

At the same time, Yap also requested MBKS to closely monitor and ensure the completion of the upgrading works according to schedule.
