SIBU: After six and a half years at the helm of SJKC Kiang Hin here, Principal Ling Ing Kiong has stepped down, bringing to a close a chapter marked by steady school development, improved student performance and close cooperation between the school and its board.

At a farewell and welcoming ceremony held at the school’s multipurpose hall yesterday (Monday), the school formally bid farewell to Ling, who has served in the education sector for 26 and a half years, including six and a half years at Kiang Hin.

At the same ceremony, Ling Lu Lu was officially welcomed as the school’s new principal, taking over the leadership of the school as it enters its next phase.

Kiang Hin Board of Directors chairman Kapitan So Teck Kee said Ling Ing Kiong’s years at the school had been marked by improvements in school culture and discipline while students continued to make progress in various areas.

He said the school had also continued to develop under Ling’s leadership, with cooperation between the Board of Directors, school administration and teaching staff remaining a key factor behind its steady progress.

“Today, we are not merely bidding farewell to a principal, but to an educator who has built deep and lasting relationships with the Board, teachers, parents and the wider community,” he said.

So said the school appreciated Ling’s dedication and contributions during his six-and-a-half-year tenure, adding that his efforts, achievements and the memories created during his service would remain part of Kiang Hin’s history.

With one principal leaving, the school is now looking towards a new chapter under Ling Lu Lu.

So described Kiang Hin as a school with strong traditions, a supportive board, a dedicated teaching team and active parental cooperation.

He expressed confidence that Ling Lu Lu would build on the school’s existing foundation, preserve its good traditions and lead the school towards further achievements.

The chairman also stressed that close cooperation between the board and the school would remain essential to the development of Chinese education.

“The board is responsible for the development and facilities of the school while the school administration and teachers carry the important responsibility of educating and nurturing the next generation,” he said.

He called for continued communication and cooperation between the board, the new principal and teachers, particularly when dealing with challenges and making decisions affecting the school’s future.

“Discuss challenges together, face difficulties together and share achievements together,” he said.

The ceremony brought together members of the school board, school leaders, teachers, parents, students, guests and members of the media.
While the occasion marked the end of Ling Ing Kiong’s tenure at Kiang Hin, it also signalled the beginning of Ling Lu Lu’s leadership.

For Kiang Hin, the transition represents more than a change in principal. It marks the passing of responsibility from one education leader to another while the school seeks to preserve its existing foundation and continue moving forward.

So wished Ling Ing Kiong success and happiness in his future career while extending his best wishes to Ling Lu Lu as she takes on her new role.

He also expressed hope that Kiang Hin would continue to prosper, with teachers and students growing together and the school achieving greater success in the years ahead.
