BINTULU: Ferry operations in Sebauh will be relocated to Pandan following the completion of the Sebauh Bridge, which now takes over as the primary route.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that the move is part of the restructuring of the rural communication system in line with infrastructure improvements in the area.

According to him, initial proposals to move ferry operations to Kampung Labang were examined, however, bridge construction was identified as a more effective and sustainable long-term solution.

“The residents’ request for the ferry to be relocated to Pandan has also been agreed upon, and this matter will be brought to the ministerial level for further action,” he was quoted as saying in an UKAS report when officiating the Sebauh 2026 Gawai Dayak Mantar Ceremony held recently.

Uggah, who is also Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development added that new road and bridge construction projects connecting several longhouses in Sebauh have also been approved at a cost of RM27 million.

He said that the implementation of these projects will further strengthen the rural communication network while improving mobility and access to basic services for local residents.

The relocation of ferry operations and the development of new infrastructure reflect the state government’s ongoing commitment to accelerating comprehensive and high-impact rural development.
