SRI AMAN: A community-driven initiative by the Sarawak Dayak Doctorate Degree Holders’ Association (SDDDHA) is aiming to strengthen academic motivation and post-school planning among rural students ahead of the 2026 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
Held in collaboration with SMK Lubok Antu on May 9, the Seminar and Motivational Talk Towards Excellent SPM 2026 gathered 131 Form Five students along with 30 parents and teachers at the school hall.
According to a press release by SDDDHA, the programme focused on exposing students to higher education pathways, personal development and career opportunities, particularly in areas linked to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) as well as Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
The association said similar outreach programmes had previously been conducted at SMK Tebakang in Serian and SM Sains Kuching Utara in 2025.
It added that the initiative forms part of its broader effort to contribute to community development through education, civic awareness, cybercrime literacy, technology and artificial intelligence exposure, as well as socio-cultural engagement.
Three committee members from the association delivered talks during the programme.
SDDDHA secretary Dr Ambrose Dango spoke on opportunities in STEM and TVET after SPM while deputy president Dr Charlie Dudang shared his personal and professional journey through a session titled “Charlie Pathways”.
Committee member Dr Ricky Lawe delivered a motivational session themed “Never Give Up, Never Surrender and Always Focus To Win”.
English teacher Nancy Derious @ Darius also shared examination strategies and study approaches for the English paper in SPM 2026.
The association also expressed appreciation to Deputy Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh for sponsoring the programme.
Officially registered in March 2024, SDDDHA said it welcomes Dayak doctorate degree holders to join the association and contribute their expertise towards community development initiatives across Sarawak.
