Serian joins Sri Aman in very unhealthy haze zone

KUCHING: Air quality in Serian deteriorated to very unhealthy levels by noon today (Aug 29), joining Sri Aman as haze conditions worsened across several parts of Sarawak.

The Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at IPD Serian rose to 204 at 12 noon, compared with 194 at 9 am.

Sri Aman, which had already recorded very unhealthy air quality at 221 this morning, saw its API climb further to 227 at noon.

Readings also increased in several other areas, with Sarikei rising from 190 to 193, Kuching from 169 to 174, Samarahan from 168 to 173 and Mukah from 165 to 168.

Sibu increased from 161 to 163, Kapit from 154 to 155 and Bintulu from 150 to 153.

Meanwhile, Samalaju remained at the moderate level with an API reading of 96, followed by Miri at 68, ILP Miri (67) and Limbang (52).
