SIBU: Police have launched an investigation following the death of a five-year-old child in an alleged slashing incident at Jalan Rantau Panjang Jaya here on Friday afternoon (Aug. 28).
A man believed to be in his 40s was reportedly arrested by a mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) team shortly after the incident.
Sibu Police Chief, ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, confirmed that police were investigating the case.
“Our men are currently at the crime scene,” he said briefly on Friday.
However, police have yet to provide further information on the incident, including how the child was allegedly attacked and whether the suspect had any connection with the victim.
The suspect is believed to have been taken into police custody to facilitate investigations.
