KUCHING: Police apprehended seven local men in the Siol Kandis area on April 3 (Friday) at 10.30 am for their involvement in motorcycle theft.
The arrests followed a police report lodged on April 2 regarding a stolen motorcycle, as well as several similar cases reported around the city centre.
According to Kuching District Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the seven suspects, aged between 21 and 27 years old, are believed to have been involved in multiple motorcycle thefts in the district since the end of 2025.
“Urine screening tests conducted on the suspects showed that they were positive for drugs. Further investigations also revealed that six of the seven suspects have multiple prior criminal records,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 379A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft.
