Shin Yang leads private sector in flood clean-up

MIRI: Clean-up efforts are well underway here following the recent floods, with significant support coming from the private sector, particularly the Shin Yang Group of Companies.

The initiative was set into motion after Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting reached out to Datuk James Ling, Group Managing Director and Vice Chairman of Shin Yang, on Saturday (Feb 8).

The company responded immediately, mobilising resources to aid in the post-flood recovery.

As part of the initiative, Shin Yang has deployed a 35-person team, 10 ten-tonne lorries, and two Bell Teleloggers to assist in clearing flood debris.

Representatives from the Miri City Council also joined the launch of the clean-up operation, which prioritises affected areas such as Sungai Adong, Tanjung Batu, and Senadin in its initial phase.

More areas will be addressed in the coming days.

The operation focuses on removing damaged furniture, mattresses, clothing, and electrical appliances, providing much-needed relief to flood-hit residents.
