SIMUNJAN: Simunjan Assemblyman, Awla Dris, was given a total of RM299,900 for his constituency fund to support educational institutions, houses of worship, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and students furthering their studies at higher learning institutions.

Awla said education and community development have always been the main pillars of his service agenda.

“This contribution is not only intended to ease the burden of recipients but also as a sign of support for efforts to educate and develop the younger generation.

“We want to see children from Simunjan succeed in their studies and later return to contribute to the community and the state.

“At the same time, churches, schools and NGOs must continue to play a significant role as they are the pillars of unity, well-being and harmony in the community,” he stated during the ceremony held at the Simunjan District Council Hall recently.

From the total amount, RM290,000 was distributed to 11 churches, 15 schools through their Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs), and 20 NGOs.

Churches received RM39,000 to support religious programmes and community welfare, while schools were allocated RM111,000 through their PTAs to improve learning facilities and student development.

Meanwhile, NGOs that are actively organising community, sports and welfare activities received RM140,000 to ensure the continuity of their roles in society.

In addition, RM9,900 was handed over to 33 students as encouragement for them to pursue their studies more comfortably without being burdened by family financial constraints.
