SIMUNJAN: A total of RM81,000 has been allocated to 27 Iban villages here to support their annual community activities.

The allocation was officially presented today during a ceremony officiated by Batang Sadong Member of Parliament, Rodiyah Sapiee, who handed over cheques to representatives of the Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) from across the Simunjan constituency.

Each village received RM3,000 to assist in organising programmes and events, particularly in preparation for the upcoming Gawai Dayak festival.

During the ceremony, Rodiyah emphasised that the funding is intended to empower the JKKK’s crucial role as community leaders driving social and cultural initiatives at the village level.

“This support is a direct investment in our grassroots leadership,” she said.

“We trust it will enable the JKKK to carry out activities that benefit residents, especially during the important Gawai Dayak celebrations.”

The recipients expressed their gratitude for the continued attention to the needs of rural Iban communities, and hoped such initiatives would continue to strengthen the JKKK and foster communal harmony.
