SINGAPORE: A 40-year-old man was arrested for suspected involvement in two anonymous bomb threats targeting Parliament House and the Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) office, the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said.

In a statement, SPF said the man will be charged in court today with the offence of communicating false information about a harmful thing under Section 268A of the Penal Code 1871.

The police said HTX received an online form submission which stated that a bomb had been placed in its building on July 3.

Separately, police also received a report that an anonymous email had been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office stating that a bomb had been placed at the Parliament House on July 7.

Police conducted thorough checks of both premises, including systematic sweeps of the buildings and their surroundings, and found no items of security concern.

“Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and Central Police Division subsequently established that the two bomb threats had been sent by the same person and arrested the man on July 7, 2026.

“Several electronic devices believed to have been used to perpetrate the threats were seized from him as case exhibits,” it said in a statement on Wednesday. – BERNAMA
