KUCHING: A 38-year-old single mother of four from Kampung Tabuan Melayu here is appealing for assistance as she continues to recover from major brain surgery that left her bed-ridden for over a month.
According to Hope Place, Noorhaslinda Jamil had been experiencing frequent headaches for months but dismissed them as stress or heat-related.
It wasn’t until she collapsed at home last October that she was rushed to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed her with blood clots in the brain.
Following emergency surgery and a month-long hospitalisation, Noorhaslinda has gradually regained some mobility and can now walk slowly and feed herself.
However, she is still in recovery and attends regular follow-up appointments and physiotherapy sessions, relying on e-hailing services for transportation.
“Her four children, aged between 7 and 16, are currently looked after by her 66-year-old father, a retired army veteran, and her elder sister, Syekeen, 43.
“Syekeen left her job last year to become Noorhaslinda’s caregiver, and has since started a small fried chicken stall outside their home to support the family.
“Despite the challenges, Noorhaslinda remains hopeful and committed to regaining her health. She exercises daily, and continues her medical care diligently, determined to return to work and ease the burden on her family,” the non-governmental organisation said in a press release.
Hope Place is providing the family with basic food aid and has launched a public appeal for donations to help Noorhaslinda and her children through this difficult time.
Those who wish to contribute can contact Hope Place at 082-505987 or 013-5672775.
