SIBU: SJKC Kiang Hin here marked a milestone today with the official launching of its newly established smart classrooms.

According to School Board of Management chairman Kapitan So Teck Kee, the development represents not merely an enhancement of physical infrastructure but also a decisive step forward in advancing digital education and enriching the teaching and learning environment.

“We firmly believe that a conducive learning setting empowers teachers with more effective pedagogical tools while opening broader intellectual horizons for our students,” he said at the SJKC Kiang Hin’s Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations cum smart classroom launching ceremony at its multipurpose hall.

So expressed gratitude to Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee, for his support in recommending the establishment of all 11 smart classrooms to the relevant government authorities.

He noted that in this rapidly evolving era, artificial intelligence (AI) is profoundly reshaping the global landscape, with education at the forefront of this transformation.

In the future, he viewed AI will be able to tailor learning experiences according to each student’s pace and abilities, making personalised education—once an ideal – an attainable reality.

Furthermore, he foresaw that AI can assist educators in instructional analysis, assessment, and classroom management, thereby enhancing both precision and efficiency in teaching.

More importantly, he said AI should not be viewed merely as a tool, but as a partner in learning as it has the potential to inspire curiosity, nurture creativity, and develop students’ problem-solving capabilities.

“Yet, as we embrace technological advancements, we must remain mindful that the essence of education is fundamentally human. The cultivation of character, the formation of values, and the spirit of empathy and responsibility are elements that no technology can replace,” he added.

“Hence, through the introduction of smart classrooms, we seek to achieve a harmonious balance between technology and humanity, ensuring that our students grow both intellectually and morally.

“Looking ahead, SJKC Kiang Hin will continue to move in tandem with the times, striving to elevate the quality of education and to provide a forward-looking learning platform for our children.

“We also look forward to the continued collaboration among the board, the school administration, parents, and the wider community, as we work hand in hand to nurture a generation that is both capable and principled, ready to meet the challenges of the future.”

Touching on the celebration of two joyous and meaningful festivals, he said within the rich tapestry of the multicultural society, the mutual respect and harmonious coexistence among people of diverse ethnicities and faiths stand as values of profound significance.

“Through such celebrations, we aspire to foster deeper understanding, strengthen bonds of friendship, and cultivate a school environment that is united, harmonious, and nurturing,” he added.

Also present were Tiang as the guest of honour, Sibu Division assistant unity officer Mohammad Nondzwan Sawi, SJKC Kiang Hin headmaster Ling Ing Kiong, SJKC Kiang Hin liaison officer Sergeant Rashidi Jamel and other school board of management members.
