KUCHING: SK Dato Mohd Musa (SKDMM) from Samarahan has once again made Malaysia proud after clinching multiple awards at the International Innovative Technology Summit (IITS) 2025 and The 9th Shengxuan Youth Tech Asia Challenge (YTAC) in Tianjin, China, from October 23 to 28.
The prestigious event brought together 104 participants from 45 teams, including 25 from Malaysia and 20 from China, making the Malaysian delegation, featuring schools from Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia, as one of the largest in Asia.
SKDMM’s excellence shone through when two of its teams triumphed in the Inno Primary Challenge category.
The Budaya Lite 3.0 team, comprising brothers, Haris Haidar Hishamuddin and Haziq Haidar Hishamuddin, under the guidance of teacher, Hazilah Abdul Rashid, captured the Titanium Award, 1st Runner-Up, and Most Popular Award for a project blending local culture with interactive technology.
Their project, which integrated local cultural values with interactive technology, demonstrated how creativity can bridge tradition and digital innovation.
Meanwhile, the Alpha SKDMM team, mentored by teachers, Azahar Malek and Mohd Ariffin Madon, earned the Gold Award and Outstanding Tech Award for their science-based innovation showcasing technical precision and creativity.
Supporting the teams were teachers, Azura Hanim Md Nazar and Azhar Hasbi, along with PIBG’s President, Dr Hishamuddin Siri; committee member, Dr Hafizan Mohamad Naim; and PPD Samarahan’s officer, Lau Sai Ping; who represented the district officially.
The awards ceremony was attended by Supian Abdul Kadir, Senior Assistant Director at the Co-Curriculum and Arts Division (BSKK), Ministry of Education Malaysia (MoE).
Headmaster Issnu Dollah said that the victory showcased the dedication and teamwork of teachers, students and parents.
“This proves that children in Samarahan can stand shoulder to shoulder with international students when given the right guidance and opportunities,” he added.
The school’s participation was supported by Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) and Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd (BPHB) through CSR initiatives, with encouragement from Datuk Rubiah Wang, Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development.
With the theme ‘Automation, Sustainable Foods Issue, and Quality Education Issue’, IITS 2025 highlighted real-world innovations tackling global challenges, underscoring Malaysia’s ability to nurture creative, globally minded young talents.
