KUCHING: The Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Association of Sarawak will mark a key leadership transition with its 3rd Installation Gala Night on April 18, bringing together stakeholders across the state’s business community.
The event, to be held at the UNIFOR Building, is expected to see the formal installation of the association’s council members for the 2025-2028 term.
Invited as guest of honour is Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who is expected to join industry leaders, entrepreneurs and policymakers at the gathering.
According to a press release, the gala also serves as a platform to recognise partners, sponsors and stakeholders who have supported the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Sarawak.
The association said the event reflects its continued push for structured leadership, good governance and long-term sustainability within the SME ecosystem.
Beyond the ceremonial aspect, the gala is positioned as a networking platform aimed at strengthening collaboration between public and private sector players.
Organising chairperson Alan Wei said the event carries broader significance as it brings stakeholders onto a single platform to connect and chart future growth.
“This is a moment for us to reaffirm our commitments, strengthen partnerships and move the SME sector forward,” he added.
Around 500 participants are expected to attend, signalling growing engagement within Sarawak’s SME landscape.
In conjunction with the event, the association will also launch a fundraising initiative to support programmes focused on entrepreneurship development, as well as youth and women participation in business.
Further details on the programme and participation will be announced through the association’s official channels.
