KUCHING: Outgoing Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth chief Datuk Snowdan Lawan has called for the rejuvenation of the party, stressing the need to keep it relevant, dynamic, and inclusive in shaping government policies and decisions.

Snowdan, who has been nominated for the post of PRS deputy president, said the party must remain proactive and courageous in participating in policymaking, while also ensuring a balance between experienced leaders and younger professionals in the party’s administration.

“We must involve and give opportunities to younger and professional members within the party so that there is a healthy balance between the senior and younger generations,” he said in a statement.

Snowdan also stressed the importance of empowering youth in politics, saying that power within the party should not be concentrated in one place or division.

“We need to empower the younger generation in the political arena. The balance of power within the party is important to ensure it is not centralised in a single area,” he added.

On another note, he expressed his gratitude to the divisions that supported his candidacy.

“I would like to express my deepest appreciation to the divisions that have nominated me for the position of PRS deputy president,” he said.

Meanwhile, PRS will be holding its sixth Triennial Delegates Conference (TDC) on Oct 18-19.
